Welcome to Search-Based Software Engineering Research Lab (SBSE) at Umich!

The term Search-based Software Engineering (SBSE) was coined by Harman and Jones in 2001. As its name implies, SBSE treats software engineering problems as search problems, and seeks to apply search techniques in order to solve them.

The objective of our research lab SBSE@UMICH is to design, build and evaluate new automated software engineering approaches based on the use of search-based techniques, such as meta-heuristic search, which will enable computer engineers charged with the tasks of transforming/migrating, designing, evolving, merging, and testing existing software systems to do so more efficiently and accurately than ever before.
